Our competitive team gives students the opportunity to further develop their dance skills through professional classes in all styles. 

We believe that DANCE lessons teach LIFE lessons! Understanding what being committed means, responsibility, respecting instructors and peers, the ability to manage their time and make wise decisions, learning adaptability and being prepared for their commitments are just a few of the values that we are instilling in our HDA dancers. 

Not only does our competitive program offer accelerated training, but focuses on mentorship, making connections, and giving dancers a dance family/community for life!

Our competitive program is designed for dancers ages 4-19 who truly have a love for dance. With 3-12+ hours(depending on age and level of dancer) each week, competitive dance is not for everyone. Those who put in the extra effort, time, and focus are rewarded with one of the most amazing experiences  imaginable.

Competitive dancers at HDA participate in our annual sleepover, dance conventions, compete in four local competitions, attend nationals, participate in our mentoring dance sister program,  and get the chance to perform more on stage. We provide opportunities for growth and as we say at HDA by pushing to be 1% better everyday it will make you 365% better by the end of the dance year. Join the HDA family today!

More Information:

  • Auditions for the Company season 2025-26 will be held in May. If selected for the team, students will be placed in the appropriate level team and classes by our professional staff.
  • All students that audition for competition and are placed on a team must participate in the annual week-long intensive training in July/August, along with summer acro/technique, and ballet intensive.
  • Team members are expected to compete in a *minimum* of 2-6 dances if chosen, depending on team placement. 
  • Team members are required to participate in all  team class dances.
  • Team members participate in 4-5 weekend competitions and/or conventions, which consist generally of all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Competitions are typically held during the months of February-May, with Nationals usually in late June or early July.
  • Team members are required to participate in the end of the year recital.
  • Team members may be selected for specialty small groups, special pieces, and solos/duets/trios at the discretion of the directors. Students are encouraged but not required to participate in special numbers.
  • Members are expected to be committed to the team and actively participate in additional opportunities, team events, and generally serve the growth and betterment of the group as whole.

  • Attends at least one dance convention

Teen Company Line:

  • Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Technique, & Acro
  • Competes in 6 Groups
  • Attends at least one dance convention
  • Class Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Select Saturdays

Junior Company Line:

  • Ballet, Tap, Jazz , Lyrical, Hip Hop, Modern, Technique, & Acro
  • Competes in 4 Groups
  • Attends at least one dance convention
  • Class Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Select Saturdays

Petite Company Line:

  • Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop,Technique & Acro  
  • Competes in 4 Groups
  • Attends at least one dance convention
  • Class Schedule: Tuesday,  Wednesday, Thursday, Select Saturdays

HDA Babies Company Line:

  • Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Acro
  • Competes in 2 Groups
  • 3 Costumes (Ballet, Tap, Jazz)
  • Class Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Select Saturdays

Pre Comp Line

  • Ballet/Tap Combo Class on Thursdays 5:30-6:15pm
  • Competes in 1 Group at one local competition in May
  • 1 Costume
  • Optional Select Saturdays Acro/Tumbling 10:00-11:00am
